Depression is not just "being sad." Depression is when the colors of the world are sucked away and everything is black or grey. It's when your pain ties your arms behind your back and attaches sand bags to your feet. It's when your eyes are permanently stained red and surrounded by dark circles because of the tears you've shed in bed every night. It's when there's a hammer in your head banging at your walls, destroying everything in its reach; the thoughts constantly thrusting against your mind and leaving behind throbbing headaches. It's when your stomach churns and knots itself, sending a shrill of nausea up your body. It's when attacks of sheer panic enter you and you can't breath and it feels like you've fallen through cracked ice and you can't escape the cold. It's when you're handcuffed to your thoughts and can't escape the harsh words they throw at you. It's when your eyes shut while everything around you is screaming for attention, and your body feels as if it's going to collapse of exhaustion beneath you, because dealing with the thoughts inside you drains every ounce of energy within you.
